Direct pulp capping

Direct Pulp capping is defined as a procedure in which the exposed vital pulp is covered with a protective dressing or base placed directly over the site of exposure in an attempt to preserve pulpal vitality | A dental material placed directly on a mechanical or traumatic vital pulp exposure. Step-wise caries excavation A material is placed on a thin partition of remaining carious dentin that if removed might accidentally expose the pulp (for immature permanent teeth).
